Abstract

This community service program aims to prevent and minimize bullying behavior through an educational and reflective approach based on the Expression Tree and Hope Tree (Pohon Ungkapan dan Pohon Harapan) at MI Ar-Rahmah, Betek, Mojoagung, Jombang. The program was implemented on February 12, 2026, involving 147 students from grades I to VI, aged 7–12 years. The intervention method utilized participatory education, sharing sessions, and visual media-based reflective activities. Program success was evaluated qualitatively through participatory observation techniques and document analysis of students' reflective outputs, with success indicators including: (1) an increase in students' cognitive understanding in distinguishing bullying from lighthearted teasing, (2) emotional openness through expressing feelings on the Expression/Hope Tree media, and (3) the emergence of more empathetic and reconciliatory social dynamics in the classroom. Observational results indicated positive shifts across these three indicators, which theoretically align with Carl Rogers' humanistic approach regarding the importance of a safe space and unconditional positive regard in fostering a healthy self-concept. Although standardized quantitative measurements (pretest–posttest) were not used, this program has the potential to serve as an applicable and contextual preventive intervention model for cultivating a safe, supportive, and child-friendly school climate.
