Abstract

Pine cone waste in Kalipucang Village has significant potential to be utilized as a value-added biomass resource for the production of aromatic bio-briquettes. This community service program aimed to enhance the knowledge and skills of local residents in processing pine cone waste into alternative renewable energy products through educational sessions, hands-on demonstrations, and learning evaluations using pre-tests and post-tests. The activity involved 35 participants from Kalipucang Village. The results indicated a notable improvement in participants’ understanding of bio-briquettes, increasing from 14.29% in the pre-test to 94.29% in the post-test, while their understanding of pine cones as a raw material increased from 8.57% to 97.14%. In addition, understanding of bio-briquettes as an alternative fuel increased from 22.86% to 91.43%. Furthermore, participants showed improved understanding of biomass utilization, environmental benefits, and potential business opportunities. The incorporation of natural aromatic additives enhanced the product’s sensory appeal and increased its added value, thereby supporting local resource-based economic development and promoting the sustainable utilization of biomass waste.
