Abstract

Muslim-friendly tourism has become one of Indonesia's strategic tourism development priorities. However, the capacity of Pokdarwis Kuin Samudra in providing basic Muslim-friendly tourism services remains limited, particularly in religious tourism destinations. This community service program aimed to optimize the understanding of Pokdarwis Kuin Samudra regarding basic Muslim-friendly tourism services through educational sessions and service simulations. The activity was conducted on 30 June 2026 at Sultan Suriansyah Mosque, Banjarmasin, involving 16 participants from Pokdarwis. The implementation consisted of needs identification, pre-test, educational training, service simulation, discussion, and post-test evaluation. The materials covered halal food and beverages, prayer facilities, sanitation, and service development and evaluation. The evaluation showed that the mean participant score increased from 80.00 in the pre-test to 92.50 in the post-test, representing a 12.50-point or 15.63% increase. A Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test indicated a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test scores (W = 0; p < 0.001). The activity also provided participants with opportunities to practice basic Muslim-friendly tourism service scenarios. These findings indicate that education combined with simulation can support efforts to strengthen Pokdarwis members’ understanding of basic Muslim-friendly tourism services.
